Are the magnetic shelves bad for your health?

One of the most frequent questions I get is: “do magnetic shelves demagnetize credit cards or cell phones? Are they somehow bad for your health?”

The short answer is: no, magnetic shelves do not put at risk your credit card, cell phone, nor your health.

Let me explain why.

First of all, thanks to a special shielding system, the magnetic charge of our shelf resets totally 10mm away from the contact surface between the shelf and the metal wall. In this way the shelf sticks firmly to the wall, but the objects that are placed on it are safe.

Second, only few objects are actually subject to “demagnetization”: credit cards now work with microchips, while car keys, USB and memory cards are not in any way subject to demagnetization.

The only case in which it is recommended to keep a safety distance of 6-8cm from the magnet on the back of the shelf, is for cardiac pacemaker carriers, in order to avoid temporary interference.

Finally, when it comes to health, opinions must give way to science: The Italian National Institute of Health, in this regard, is very clear. At the following link http://www.iss.it/elet/?lang=1&id=75&tipo=5 you can find an article stating that although in theory there could be some interaction between static magnetic fields and the human body, this would lead to observable effects only at very high field intensity, higher than those generated from sources available today.

I hope I have dispelled any doubts on the matter: if not, please do not hesitate to contact me by commenting this article or by writing an email to marketing@rondadesign.it !
